Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Vivienne Zangaro, a junior at Long Beach High School in Long Beach, New York, has verbally committed to swim and study at the University of Georgia beginning in the 2027-28 school year.

“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swim and academic career at the University of Georgia! I would like to thank my family for always believing in me,  my coaches, and the staff at UGA for this amazing opportunity. I can’t wait to be part of this truly amazing team! GO DAWGS 🐾🐶♥

Zangaro swims year-round with Long Island Aquatic Club and has a wide range of specialties. We named her one of the “Best of the Rest” sprinters on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimming recruits from the high school class of 2027, but her value goes far beyond sprints. She is competent in the entire lineup of freestyle events and has also broken 2:00 in the 200 back and 200 fly, giving the Bulldogs a lot of options.

Last fall, she represented Long Beach High at the New York State Public High School Girls State Championship, placing 2nd in both the 200 free (1:49.54) and 500 free (4:50.50, a PB). She also swam splits of 25.23 fly on the medley relay and 51.19 on the 400 free relay.

In December, she competed at NCAP Invitational and clocked lifetime bests in the 200 free (1:49.25), 200 back (2:00.80), and 200 fly (1:59.53). Two months later, at Senior Met Winter Championships, she won the 200 free (1:48.37), placed 3rd in the 200 fly (2:03.52), and finished 5th in the 200 back (1:59.28), 7th in the 500 free (4:56.11), 8th in the 100 fly (57.05), and 16th in the 100 back (58.71). She left the meet with new PBs in the 200 free (1:47.58), 200 back (1:59.28), and 100 fly (55.91).

Zangaro kicked off long-course season at U.S. Nationals, where she made finals in the 200 free (31st) and 400 free (23rd). Her 200 time was a lifetime best (2:01.69). She bookended that performance with a 7th-place finish in the 400 free at Summer Junior Nationals, where she also placed 16th in the 800 free with a PB of 8:53.72.

Best SCY times:

  • 100 free – 51.55
  • 200 free – 1:47.58
  • 500 free – 4:50.50
  • 1000 free – 10:01.46
  • 200 back – 1:59.28
  • 200 fly – 1:59.53

Zangaro will join the Bulldogs’ class of 2031 with fellow BOTR recruit, Jordyn Glassley. It took 48.82/1:46.68/4:44.88 in the 100/200/500 free, 1:55.25 in the 200 back, and 1:58.30 in the 200 fly to score at 2025 SEC Championships.
