Sony Music Publishing launches in the Philippines, appoints Stephanie Ortiz as General Manager for the market

Sony Music Publishing has opened a new flagship office in the Philippines, appointing Stephanie Ortiz as General Manager, effective immediately.

Based in Manila, Ortiz reports to Sony Music Publishing’s newly appointed President for Asia, Roslyn Pineda, who will be based out of Hong Kong.

Ortiz comes to the role with over a decade of music industry and business experience. She previously served as Head of Digital Business at Universal Music Group Philippines, where she led commercial partnerships and digital growth. She later moved to Believe Music as Head of Label, overseeing partnerships with Universal Records, Polyeast Records, and ABS-CBN’s Star Music, while also signing independent artists.

Her background extends beyond music. At BDO Unibank, she served as Head of Contract and Risk Management, and at Smart Communications, she handled the music category within the company’s digital products and partnerships division.

The new office, SMP PH, will work across the Filipino music industry, engaging labels, collection societies, and other industry stakeholders to build international networks for the company’s roster of composers and songwriters.

That roster already includes Filipino acts like Ben&Ben, SB19’s John Paulo Nase, Josh Cullen Santos, Justin de Dios, O SIDE MAFIA, DWTA, Ace Banzuelo, MATEO, Arnel de Pano, Mike Hanopol, Rey Valera and more.

Commenting on the move, Roslyn Pineda, President, Asia, Sony Music Publishing, said: “Stephanie Ortiz’s appointment as General Manager of Sony Music Publishing Philippines marks a pivotal moment for our organization and the Filipino music landscape.”

“Her extensive experience and deep understanding of the industry will drive innovation and growth, fostering a vibrant ecosystem for creativity in the region.”
