Schroeder Swim Team’s Boys’ 11-12 200 Free Relay Breaks Wisconsin State Record in 1:39.22

The Schroeder Swim Team boys’ 11-12 200 freestyle relay team of Adino Misany (25.40), Ethan Smith (24.34), Chase Komassa (23.58), and Owen Smith (23.58) lowered both their team record of 1:39.61 and the Wisconsin 11-12 state record, besting the 2015 time of 1:39.28 from the Badger Aquatics Club.

That quartet went on to win by just over four seconds ahead of Madison Aquatic Club in 1:42.35. The final time now ranks as the 7th fastest boys’ 11-12 relay this season.

That same relay later won the 200 medley relay by over three seconds; Misany (28.63), E. Smith (30.81), Komassa (27.67), and O. Smith (23.96) combined in 1:51.07, just under a second off the state record of 1:50.33.

Misany won the 11-year-olds 50 free by well over a second, touching in 25.28. He also dominated the 11-year-olds’ 50 backstroke as the only swimmer in the field under 30 seconds, clocking 28.68. He picked up wins in his age in the 100 free (56.39), 50 fly (28.02), 100 butterfly (1:02.71), and 100 back (1:03.98). Misany went on to win the 11-year-old boys’ high point award for the meet.

Ethan Smith took the win in the 12-year-old age group, 50 back in 26.99, just ahead of Owen Smith in 27.52. He also took the win in the 100 back, clocking 57.88.

Owen Smith won the 12-year-old 50 free in 24.20, over half a second ahead of Eli Purdin in 24.74. He later doubled up with a 100 free win in 52.27, once again ahead of Purdin in 53.46. O. Smith capped off his individual performance with a close victory in the 50 fly, stopping the clock in 26.45.

Other Notable Performances:

  • Ana Prah, 9, came away with the girls’ 9-year-old high point award, winning all six of her individual events, including the 50 free (28.34), 100 free (1:02.91), 50 fly (31.59), 100 breast (1:23.58), 100 back (1:09.12), and 100 IM (1:12.32).
  • Elizabeth Burke, 10, also collected six individual wins on her way to a 10-year-old girls’ high point win. Burke was victorious in the 50 fly (29.60), 100 free (1:01.01), 100 fly (1:06.04), 100 back (1:08.86), 100 breast (1:16.97), and 100 IM (1:10.28).
