NCSA Champion Clark Coyle To Join The Texas A&M Aggies Fall of 2026

By Claire Wong on SwimSwam

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Clark Coyle of Danville, Kentucky is headed to College Station next fall, joining the Texas A&M Aggies. He plans to major in agricultural finance and real estate at A&M, a university well known for its agricultural tradition, hence building on his long time involvement in FFA (Future Farmers of America). Coyle, a rising senior at Boyle County High School and 2x Scholastic All-American, represents Kentucky Aquatics in Lexington at the club level.

I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to pursue my academic and athletic career at Texas A&M University. I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches, especially Coach Devin and the rest of the KYA staff. I would also like to give a special thank you to Coach Blaire and the rest of the A&M coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. Gig ‘em

Coyle is a well-decorated athlete at the high school level, having finaled at the Kentucky High School State Championships every year thus far. His freshman year he placed 5th in the 50 free (21.20) and 7th in the 100 free (47.37), then switched up both events the next year to climb the rankings as in his sophomore year he was the state runner up in the 100 fly (49.51) and 3rd in the 100 back (49.74). Most recently, Coyle took 3rd in the 100 fly (49.08) and 4th in the 50 free (21.02) at those championships, and while neither was a best time, he led Boyle County to a 13th place finish in a field of 75 teams.

Weeks later, Coyle swam at Speedo Sectionals in Cary, hitting personal bests in the 100 free (46.66), 200 free (1:42.51), 200 back (1:50.57), and 200 fly (1:49.09). He also swam the 100 back (49.50) and 100 fly (49.18), placing 6th and 7th, respectively, though both were slightly off his bests of 49.43 and 48.66.

He most recently competed at the NCSA Summer Championships in July, setting numerous personal bests across his main events. Coyle took home first place in the 50 fly with a 24.43 and swam times of 2:06.09 in the 200 fly, 58.34 in the 100 back, 27.61 in the 50 back, and 2:08.45 in the 200 back.

Best times (SCY):

  • 50 fly: 22.44
  • 100 fly: 48.66
  • 200 fly: 1:49.09
  • 50 back: 23.13
  • 100 back: 49.43
  • 200 back: 1:50.57
  • 50 free: 20.84

During their first year under head coach Blaire Anderson, the Aggies placed 5th at SECs and 12th NCAAs. Their national championship showing was an improvement from the year before, where they took 16th. They have however since lost two of their top swimmers in Baylor Nelson and Jacob Wimberly to their in-state rivals, the University of Texas.

Coyle is slightly outside what it took to score at SECs in the butterfly and backstroke events, with the cut-off times for a second swim being 46.78 in the 100 fly, 46.75 in the 100 back, and 1:44.30 in the 200 fly. Regardless, if he can continue his upwards trajectory, he will be a strong pickup for the Aggies, as he would have ranked 8th on their roster in the 200 fly and 9th in the 100 back. Further, with the graduation of Connor Foote this coming spring—the Aggies’ top 100 flyer—Texas A&M will need to depend on the incoming classes to step up.

Joining Coyle in the Aggies’ class of 2030 will be Jake Lloyd, Wyatt Vitiello, and Gideon Swan. This recruiting class is a well-rounded group, with Lloyd specializing in sprint free/breast, Vitiello a back/IM specialist, and Swan excelling in the IM/free events.
