The George Washington men look to defend their Atlantic-10 Conference title and got out to a fast start on night one, winning the 200 medley relay. The team’s 200 medley relay of Ganesh Sivaramakrishnan, Alessandro Borsato, Daniel Nagy, and AJ Wood touched in a 1:25.84 for the win. The relay led from the start and earned the win over George Mason who was 2nd in a 1:26.10.
The George Mason men originally touched 2nd in the 800 free relay but George Washington was disqualified due to an early takeoff. George Mason’s relay consisted of Tate Anderson, Alex Crown, Cody Scifres, and Ryan Serbia as they touched in a 6:23.83. That originally was just behind George Washington’s 6:23.56.
The George Mason 800 free relay marked a new conference record as the previous record was set at this meet a year ago when George Mason won the relay in a 6:24.73.
Despite not winning either relay on night 1, the La Salle men head into night two with the lead as the team had five divers score in finals of the men’s 1 meter diving event. Calvin LeBlanc led the way with a 6th place finish.
The Richmond women will head into day two with the lead as they kicked off the night with a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Hannah Wieczorek, Presley Baber, Lena Amare, and Julia Krichev swam to a 1:38.71. That was faster than their previous school record of a 1:39.30 that has stood since 2023.
In the 800 free, Duquesne came away with the win as the team of Sierra Snow, Lexi Sundgre, Kaitlyn Connors, and Ashley Freel touched in a 7:16.52. Freel anchored in a 1:47.97. Richmond was 2nd in a 7:17.80, with Lena Amare‘s anchor leg of a 1:47.85 being the fastest of anyone in the field.
