The 2025 Japan Open is nearly upon us, with swimming action kicking off Friday, November 28th, from the Tokyo Aquatics Center.

As in the past, a plethora of domestic talent is set to attend the three-day competition, while foreign athletes from countries such as Australia and Canada will also be represented.

31-year-old Olympic champion Cameron McEvoy headlines the Aussie contingent, with teammates Matt Temple, Iona Anderson, Sienna Toohey and William Petric among those joining him.

The Canadian squad includes Taylor Ruck, Ruslan Gaziev and Ingrid Wilm to add to the mix of athletes headed to the site of the 2020 Olympic Games.

Japan’s team is set to include Olympic medalist Tomoyuki Matsushita, Kosuke Makinio and Hidekazu Takehara, all of whom are among the world’s top 5 this season in their primary events.

Tomoru Honda, the men’s 200m fly silver medalist from the 2020 Olympic Games, is also set to make an appearance after having missed the latest series of domestic meets.

The Japanese women’s contingent expects Rikako Ikee, Ai Soma and Satomi Suzuki to dive in for multiple races.

Finally, Korea will also be represented, highlighted by the newly minted national record holder in the 100m free, 19-year-old Kim Youngbeom.
