On the 1 meter diving board, Miami’s Chiara Pellacani posted a strong showing with a score of 320.25 to lead the field by 17 points. Pellacani, the defending NCAA runner-up in this event, held a consistent score throughout the competition with 7s and 8s on all of her dives, After finishing 1st on the 3 meter board on day 1, Pellacani’s teammate Emma Gullstrand finished 2nd here with 303.00 points. In the men’s 3-meter, host Texas saw its first victory of the meet with Nicholas Harris racking up 403.75 points to edge the field by under 10 points. Harris, who finished 10th at last year’s NCAA Championships, solidified his win with a big 77.90 score on his final dive, the Forward 4 1/2 Somersault Tuck. Miami redshirt freshman Jake Passmore repeated his 2nd place finish from the 1-meter event on the 3-meter board with a score of 394.15 points. Despite Harris pulling away with his final dive, Passmore was in contention for a majority of the competition.
