Paris-headquartered music company Believe has officially launched its Believe Music Publishing unit in multiple markets following its acquisition of Sentric in 2023.
According to the announcement on Tuesday (October 7), Believe Music Publishing has been built on the “combined strengths of Believe and Sentric, to give right holders one of the most advanced sets of tools and services in the industry”.
Believe has named Chris Meehan as Believe’s CEO of Publishing. Meehan joined Believe after its acquisition of Sentric, which he founded in 2006.
According to Tuesday’s announcement, Believe Music Publishing uses proprietary technology and operates with a “global footprint “of 160 “publishing experts” and dedicated teams across multiple fields, including creative, sync and “revenue optimization”.
The company said that its global collection infrastructure “benefits from historical partnerships with collection societies and is driven by a fair and transparent approach”.
The existing publishing “solutions” within Believe will remain active alongside Believe Music Publishing.
Sentric will continue to offer administration services for self-published songwriters, while TuneCore will continue to provide its clients with a publishing administration service.
Believe has also hired a number of executives to lead its publishing business in key selected markets:
Ismaël Kané has been named Head of Publishing France, for Believe. Described as “one of the most influential publishers in the French rap scene”, he previously led BlueSky’s publishing activities in France and internationally. He has signed prominent French rapper R2. Believe noted that R2’s track Ruinart has been ranked at No.1 of the local Top 50 for several weeks.
Alexandra Ziem, “one of Germany’s most seasoned and respected publishers,” has been hired as Head of Publishing for Believe in Germany.
Previously Director of Creative at Sony Music Publishing in the market, she has notably signed BenZucker, one of Germany’s top schlager and pop-rock singers, as well as top DJ and producer HolyPriest.
Sunil Gursahani, Head of Believe Music Publishing in India and South Asia, previously contributed to publishing and licensing initiatives at Tips Music, and has signed Punjabi singer-songwriter Garry Sandhu.
Chris Dampier joins as Head of Publishing for North America and has signed acts like VOILÀ, the LA-based alt-pop duo known for their breakout hit Figure You Out. Dampier was previously Director of Film, TV and Visual Media at Broadcast Music, Inc where he signed composers, songwriters and publishers to BMI, and Vice President of TuneCore Publishing.
Based in Thailand, Monthira Tunthagadh has overseen international publishing management at GMM Grammy and will now support publishing activities for Believe as A&R manager across Southeast Asia. In this role, she already signed YOUNGOHM, an influential figure in the Thai hip-hop scene.
