#13 Ranked Grace Koenig-Song Staying Local With Verbal Commitment To Northwestern For 2028

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

The #13 ranked recruit in the girls high school class of 2028 Grace Koenig-Song has announced her commitment to continue her academic and athletic careers at Northwestern beginning in fall 2028.

“I am extremely grateful and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Northwestern University!! 💜

First and foremost, I want to thank my family for their countless sacrifices as well as my friends and teammates for supporting me every step of the way. I also would like to thank my team @nasawild as I would not be where I am today without them, and to my coaches along the way: Coach Alessio, Coach Jeff (x2), Coach Chris, Coach Joey, and Coach Kate. Thank you for helping me grow not only as a swimmer, but also as a person, and for shaping me into who I am today.

Finally, none of this would have been possible without Coach Rachel, Coach Eddie, and the entire coaching staff at Northwestern. I am incredibly grateful for all of your support, patience, and belief in me throughout this journey.

I am so excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to call Northwestern home!! Go ’Cats!! 💜🤍”

Koenig-Song swims for NASA Wildcats and finished her summer representing the U.S. at the 2026 Junior Pan Pac Championships. There she saw her highest finish come in the 200 breast as she was 12th in a 2:36.63. She swam a lifetime best 28.27 in prelims of the 50 fly.

She had a huge swim in the 200 breast at Summer Juniors at the start of August as she swam to a 2:30.33 for 3rd. That was a lifetime best. Her best time coming into the summer was a 2:31.77.

Koenig-Song’s Best SCY Times Are:

  • 200 breast: 2:10.83
  • 100 breast: 1:00.28
  • 200 IM: 1:59.83
  • 400 IM: 4:17.82

The Northwestern women finished 9th out of 14 teams at the 2026 Big Ten Championships and went on to finish 36th at the 2026 NCAA Championships with eight points. Koenig-Song will stay local as she is originally from Chicago and will make the move to Evanston, right north of Chicago.

Based on her lifetime bests, Koenig-Song is a huge addition to the Northwestern women. Her best times in both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes would have lead the team this past season. She would have made the Big Ten ‘A’ final in the 200 breast and the ‘B’ final in the 100 breast. She is not far off the 59.53 and 2:08.77 it took to make the 2026 NCAA cutline.

Koenig-Song is the 2nd public commitment for Northwestern’s class of 2032 as she joins Gabriela Bortlisz of Poland. Koenig-Song’s commitment keeps up Northwestern’s success for top 20 recruits on the women’s side as the team notably has secured a commitment from Lucy Velte for 2027. Velte is the #2 ranked recruit in that class.
